information for the 2014 summer will be posted in the next few weeks
2013 summer instructional league info
BEACH DAWGS Baseball will be holding its first summer instructional league for players and teams ages 9U-12U. Starting in July, the league will last 6 weeks, and consist of practices and games geared toward teaching each player how to play the game at a high level. With a major focus on practice, players will be taught top level fundamentals and mechanics, as well as in-depth plays and drills. Each player will be challenged to expand their skills and increase their skill level. Whether you want to enter the league as an individual player, or sign up your entire team, players will be trained by and receive instruction from the BEACH DAWGS organization’s professional staff, former MLB players, and local college players.
Players will be divided into equal teams of 10 players* which will stay together for the duration of the league, and it will also help maximize playing time. Pre-formed teams that enter the league will be able to stay together if players are the same age. Each practice will provide players the opportunity to work on specific aspects of the game, giving them a more focused routine. Depending on the day and type of practice, practices will be held at either the BEACH DAWGS Baseball complex or the Bradenton Baseball Academy.
Each week will have 3 practices, plus Saturdays that will either be a 4th field practice or a double header. Mid-week practices will be one hour each, Saturday practices will last between 2 and 2.5 hours, and double headers will last about 5 hours total.
The players will learn top level concepts on pitching (holding runners, pick plays, pitching approach, etc), hitting (plate discipline, situational hitting, high level mechanics, etc), fielding (proper cuts, double cuts, run downs, double plays, situational defense, etc), baserunning (proper leads, taking the extra base, getting good jumps, etc), and situational baseball (playing the game the right way).
Over the course of the league, your player will spend nearly 50 hours working up close and personal with a talented staff of baseball coaches, who will also be available for individual private lessons. The cost of the league is only $200 per player, which includes all games, practices, jerseys, and extra hitting time at the indoor facility. The league is limited to 60 players, with a minimum of 20 players needed in order to play games. Tentative start date for the league is July 10th.
On off days, players/teams will be able to utilize the indoor cages at the Bradenton Baseball Academy any time there is an availability, for free. This truly is an amazing opportunity for your player to take his game to the next level, and prepare himself for the upcoming season.
